I believe everyone knows that due to various reasons, a product can have both good and bad parts, and resistors are no exception. Therefore, understanding how to detect the quality of resistance is an important aspect. So do you know how to detect the quality of resistance? Below, the editor from Ouyou Electronics will introduce you:
Methods for detecting the quality of resistance:
1、 Appearance inspection
Check that the markings are clear, the protective paint is intact, there are no burns, scars, cracks, corrosion, and the resistor is in close contact with the pins. For potentiometers, it is also necessary to check that the shaft is flexible, the tension is appropriate, and the feel is comfortable. If there is a switch, check whether the switch action is normal, etc.
2、 Multi meter testing
1. When using a pointer multimeter to determine the quality of a resistor, first select the measurement gear, and then place the magnification knob in the appropriate gear. Generally, resistors below 100 ohms can choose RX1 gear, resistors between 100 ohms and 1K ohms can choose RX10 gear, resistors between 1K ohms and 10K ohms can choose RX100 gear, resistors between 10K-100K ohms can choose RX1K gear, and resistors above 100K ohms can choose RX10K gear.
2. After selecting the measurement gear, calibrate the resistance gear of the multimeter to 0. The method of calibrating 0 is to short-circuit the metal bars of the two multimeter probes and observe whether the pointer is at the 0 position. If it is not at the 0 position, adjust the zero adjustment knob to point the pointer to the 0 position of the resistance scale.
3. Next, connect the two probes of the multimeter to the two ends of the resistor, and the pins should point to the corresponding resistance scale. If the pins do not move and the indication is unstable or the indication value differs greatly from the marked value on the resistor, it indicates that the resistor is damaged.
4. When using a digital multimeter to determine the quality of a resistor, first adjust the gear knob of the multimeter to the appropriate ohm range. Generally, resistors below 200 ohms can choose the 200 range, resistors between 200-2K ohms can choose the 2K range, resistors between 2K-20K ohms can choose the 20K range, resistors between 20K-200K ohms can choose the 200K range, and resistors between 200K-200M ohms can choose the 2M ohm range. Select 20M range for resistors between 2M-20M ohms, and 200M range for resistors above 20M ohms.
The content introduced above is the method for detecting the quality of resistance. By using these simple detection methods, you can quickly detect the quality of the resistance, which brings great convenience to your use.
